Gramps Braggin Rights Greater Metro St. Louis Area boy's basketball ratings - 02/07/2022

 As I mentioned in the Girls post, I am packing for a pacemaker procedure this afternoon at St. Luke's so I will keep this short.

How about the MCC conference?  They usually have three teams in the top ten area schools but four?  And the worst team in the Metro Catholic Conference, Vianney, is ranked 11th in the area.  Tough league with great teams.  Hats off to the MCC teams!

I have made a few updates on the top teams but need to add some additional late January games for some of the lower teams.  It is really difficult to rate these top teams statistically when they keep knocking each other off from night to night.  It is not like, team A beats team B, team B beats team C and they are in rank order.  No, they make it difficult for me with team A beats team B, team B beats team C and then, team C beats team A.  Makes life difficult for this old statistician.

So here are my large and small Greater Metro St. Louis area schools.  I include schools that are an hour drive from Busch Stadium.  I may have missed a couple and I may have stretched the definition to include schools like Park Hills Central (65 miles).  It is what it is.

Large school ratings are followed by the small schools ratings.  Enjoy and wish me luck!

 Who's showing up tonight?  That might be a coach's biggest worry from one game to another.  Will the team respond to the coaching this week?  Will the players give their best effort?  Will the team perform as expected? Those are some questions that are hard to answer for a group of boys between 15 and 18 years of age.  How well will they all perform in a game in which the opponent's coaching staff has been working to defend against your strengths and take opportunities with your team's weaknesses to win the game? Gramps Braggin Rights Missouri Boys Class One Final Ratings 3/13/2022

 Updated 3/24/2022 Man, O, Man.  How about those Panthers of Annapolis, Missouri! I have nev/er seen a half like the first half of the South Iron and Stanberry Class One state championship game last night.  In what seemed like a close game early in the second quarter, the Panthers, behind Drenin Dinkins, exploded with 21 points to build a 20-14 game into a 41-20 route by half.  Dinkins, was on fire, hitting shots from 25 feet and driving into the lane for acrobatic floaters or dipsy-do layups.  It was literally the hot knife slicing through butter analogy.  Dinkins finished the first half with 29 of those 41 points, the second-most by a player in MSHSAA basketball history for one half.  Gramps Braggin' Rights Missouri Boy's Class Four Basketball Ratings by District - 2/10/2021 As I stated earlier, I am not fully caught up on all teams in all classes but with district seeding meetings (some have already occurred) and tournaments right around the corner, I am posting what I have.  Here are the Class Four boys ratings by district and my comments about each district: District 1: Take New Madrid County Central over Cape Notre Dame and run. District 2:  Jobe Bryant and the Park Hill Central Rebels dominate. District 3:  St. James edges Owensville District 4: Confluence Academy spoils another Cinderella run by Lift for Life. District 5: How do you spell Domination...?  V-A-S-H-O-N District 6: MICDS and Whitfield could play three OTs to decide this.  I can't, you can flip your own coin.  Brandon Mitchell-Day might be the difference-maker here.
