March 12th Missouri Girls Predictions 3/12/2022

As I said over on the Boys Predictions, even I am astounded by the accuracy of my ratings over the past two days.  Normally, with great teams and very even competition, the prediction percentages go down from 90 to 80 to 70% as the tournament progresses.  I have been checking actual game results with my posted boys and girls ratings and was hitting at about 88 to 90%.  The past two days, my ratings proved accurate in 16 out of 16 games.  The spread, like the Charleston-LafCo game, wasn't always close but I picked the winners in every boys and girls tournament game.

So here goes for March 12th.  The competition gets even tougher so I expect more wrong predictions, but the real story is the competition, not this old man's ratings.  These are all great teams so please do not be offended if I pick someone else over your favorite team.  It is just pure statistics (as in "lies, damn lies, and statistics" as Mark Twain dubbed them).  And, @Higglcsports, I don't mind if I get all of these wrong.  LOL

Let's look at the Girl's predictions below.  The boy's predictions are HERE:

Class One championship

Platte County/South Nodaway/Jefferson with Conception (that's a mouthful) and Delta, both 28-1, face off for the class one state championship.  Both have played a tough schedule. This will be a battle of styles, with Delta rolling over opponents all season (83 ppg, 51 pt differential) but Platte County, with a methodical style (55ppg, 30 pt differential). will be a tough opponent.  Delta is a 7 point favorite but do not count out the Longhorns.

Class One 3rd Place Game - Leeton looks to win this battle, favored by 18.

Class Two Championship

There might not be a closer game than Ellington and Wellington-Napoleon.  This game is a rematch of last year's class two championship with Ellington winning by 7.  This year's game is a coin flip but I will take Wellington-Napoleon as an upset even though Ellington is a 0.2 point favorite.

Class Two 3rd Place Game - Blue Eye has been nearly unbeatable down the stretch and takes the third-place trophy home with a comfortable win.

Class Four Quarter-finals

- St. James is too strong for a very good Park Hills Central Rebel squad.  St. James by 7

- John Burroughs boys and girls both had excellent seasons but the girls continue to win.  John Burroughs by 10 over Hallsville.

- Helias Catholic is too strong for Ava.  Helias by 17

- St. Joseph Benton has been strong all year, beating St. Pius X by six in early January.  Benton beats Pius X in this quarter-final by 9.

Class Five Quarter-finals

- Webster Groves Lady States(wo)men are just 0.3 point underdog to Cape Notre Dame. This game is another coin flip but I will go with the Stateswomen to edge Notre Dame.

- Whitfield should have no problem with a very good Warrenton squad.  Whitfield by 25

- West Plains has an easy time with Carl Junction.  Zizzers by 20.

- Smithville's boys and girls both had outstanding seasons, but Raytown South wins this one by 7

Class Six Quarter-finals

- St. Joseph's Academy has been torrid down the stretch, upsetting a top-notch Eureka squad and trouncing an always good Marquette team.  St. Joes by 9 over the Indians.

- There are no words to describe Incarnate Word Academy's performance this year.  Troy falls by 40 even with Incarnate's second and third teams in the game.

- Kickapoo kicks Truman out of the tournament by 11.

- Blue Springs South edges St. Joseph Central by 4 in a close game.
