Gramps Braggin' Rights Missouri Boy's Class Three Basketball Ratings by District - 2/10/2021

As I stated earlier, I am not fully caught up on all teams in all classes but with district seeding meetings (some have already occurred) and tournaments right around the corner, I am posting what I have.  Here are the Class 3 boys ratings by district and my comments about each district:

District 1: Charleston dances through district 1

District 2:  Saxony Lutheran and Kelly go OT in this championship.  The Crusaders beat Kelly by three in mid-season and I will go with them to win again.  Neither can beat Charleston in the Sectional.

District 3:  Kingston dominates district 3.

District 4: DuBourg has a slight edge over St. Pius X of Festus

District 5: Duchesne tops Elsberry for this district final.

District 6: Monroe City blows out Highland on their way to a possible final four or state championship.

District 7: Hermann tops North Callaway

District 8:  In one of the weakest districts, Tipton, Cole Camp or Windsor Sedalia could win.  Flip a triangle.

District 9: Steelville is too strong for district 9 opponents

District 10:  Thayer tops Hartville on the way to a potential state title.

District 11:  Strafford and Skyline are co-favorites but Greenwood Springfield could have a say.  The two co-favorites play on 2/11 and the winner will probably repeat for the district title.

District 12: Southwest Washburn wins a district title for the trophy shelf.  Note: I had Ash Grove rated higher but my formula was incorrect on the district table.

District 13: Adrian, Stockton, Butler, and El Dorado Springs all could win.  No favorite for me.

District 14: Correction:  Lafayette County/Higginsville is the real deal.

District 15: St. Pius X KC does better than its namesake in district 4

District 16: Milan wins the weakest district

 Who's showing up tonight?  That might be a coach's biggest worry from one game to another.  Will the team respond to the coaching this week?  Will the players give their best effort?  Will the team perform as expected? Those are some questions that are hard to answer for a group of boys between 15 and 18 years of age.  How well will they all perform in a game in which the opponent's coaching staff has been working to defend against your strengths and take opportunities with your team's weaknesses to win the game? Gramps Braggin Rights Missouri Boys Class One Final Ratings 3/13/2022

 Updated 3/24/2022 Man, O, Man.  How about those Panthers of Annapolis, Missouri! I have nev/er seen a half like the first half of the South Iron and Stanberry Class One state championship game last night.  In what seemed like a close game early in the second quarter, the Panthers, behind Drenin Dinkins, exploded with 21 points to build a 20-14 game into a 41-20 route by half.  Dinkins, was on fire, hitting shots from 25 feet and driving into the lane for acrobatic floaters or dipsy-do layups.  It was literally the hot knife slicing through butter analogy.  Dinkins finished the first half with 29 of those 41 points, the second-most by a player in MSHSAA basketball history for one half. What was so remarkable to me was not the amazing Dinkins, but the versatility and interchangeable parts of the rest of the Panther squad.  Giving away more than a few inches in height, the Panthers didn't seem to miss a beat with the four or five substitutes that moved seamlessly, in and out of their

District 2:  Jobe Bryant and the Park Hill Central Rebels dominate. District 3:  St. James edges Owensville District 4: Confluence Academy spoils another Cinderella run by Lift for Life. District 5: How do you spell Domination...?  V-A-S-H-O-N District 6: MICDS and Whitfield could play three OTs to decide this.  I can't, you can flip your own coin.  Brandon Mitchell-Day might be the difference-maker here.
