Gramps Braggin Rights Missouri Boy's Class Two final basketball ratings 3/13/2022

Updated 3/24/2022

Congrats to Norwood for their first state title!  Norwood has been at the top or near the top of my ratings and the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association polls all season long and they managed to eke out a one-point victory over Bernie, another very deserving team.

There were multiple teams that could have taken home the top prize in class two.  I do not recall a tournament where there were so many close games throughout the entire class two bracket. The scoring differential was less than four points (1, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 2) in the quarter-, semi- and final game.  ANY of the quarterfinalists could have been the state champ, but Norwood, led by Garrett Davault's 24 ppg scoring,  figured out how to get to the top of the heap, with a steal and bucket in the final seconds.  It had to be disappointing for Bernie, also trying for their first-ever state title, to have ball possession and the lead, and then lose the ball on a half-court trap with just seconds left.

It might be hard to put a sheet of paper between the ratings of any of the top ten or twelve teams but the Norwood Pirates had the stuff to finish strong and beat the Mules of Bernie.  Alton, who was near the top of the ratings all year long, is #3 after a two-point loss to Bernie in the quarterfinals.  College Heights Christian, who lost to Norwood by five, is the #4 team in class two.  NE Cairo, who was upset by Van-Far in a district semi-final, is in the top ten based upon their solid season.

Here are my class two final ratings.  As I stated in my Class one ratings, I focused on the top 20 over the final few weeks, so if your team is rated outside the top 20, and you are not happy with your spot, you can calculate your own rating by adding the score differential to your opponents' rating and averaging that number.  No need to give me a heads-up.  I feel pretty good with getting nearly 90% of my district and state tournament winners picked correctly.

Enjoy!
