Gramps Braggin' Rights Missouri Girls' Basketball Ratings - All Classes 3/23/2022
Here are my Final Gramps Braggin' Rights Missouri Girls' Basketball Ratings for the 2021-2022 season.
There is no argument about Incarnate Word Academy being the best girls' basketball team in the state of Missouri this year. There may even be little arguing about how they rank with the last six state champion teams that IWA has had. This one might be the best, or at least, they rated the best. Maybe Gramp's ratings have experienced some creep as ratings just go up each year. At any rate, these Red Knights are right up near the top of all-time best girls' teams in Missouri history.
The arguments might come over who is #2. There were an awful lot of bridesmaids for that second spot. Kickapoo, West Plains, Nixa, Whitfield, John Burroughs, and Blue Springs South were all very, very good and very deserving large schools. El Dorado, Strafford, and Platte Valley were outstanding small school teams in my top 20.
The talent in Missouri just keeps getting better and better. All of the top ten or so teams could be state champions on any given night. They are all just that good.
Some of the best teams weren't even in the state tournament. With the current MSHSAA district set-up, some outstanding teams were runner-ups in their district instead of a final four team. Some of them deserved to be in the final four and there has to be a better way to seed teams so the best basketball is played in the last few days of the state tournament in EVERY class of boys or girls.
I hope you have enjoyed these ratings. They take a ton of my time to calculate all of the ratings. If your team was in the bottom third of your class or district, I may not have captured every game you played. I apologize for not being quite as thorough with your team as the top 50 teams in your class.
And if you were a final four team and other teams in your class who didn't even make the state tournament is rated ahead of you, that's the way these ratings work. I rate the top teams for their entire season and some of you might have had an easier path to your final four than these other teams did. Forget Gramps ratings. You have a trophy and no one can take it away from you.
Hope you enjoyed Gramps Braggin Rights ratings again this year.

I saw you mention John Burroughs will be returning everyone next season; Grain Valley is in basically the same position, only losing one senior (who was 9th in the rotation at best) and expecting a healthy and hungry Grace Slaughter back around the start of the season.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for giving me that feedback. I will expect great things from Grain Valley next year! Best wishes and continued success.
